Registered: August 2004	Re: 4age oil filter location Mon, 23 August 2004 05:55 Sam4A-GE_Seca wrote on Sun, 22 August 2004 14:29 yeah its a prick of a job. especially when its hot hot hot. best bet is to go to a auto shop and ask for the "claw" oil filter wrench - works every time on 4A, 7A corollas and subarus too. only costs $30 or so and attaches to your 3/8" drive ratchet. on my AE82 i used the smaller oil filter (ryco number Z386) off the later 4AFE and 7AFE Ya would make it easier to fit & replace but it only does half the job. Meaning that if your motors worn the filter will block up quicker go into bypass mode and start sending unfiltered oil back through the motor to cause even more wear and tear. Ain't worth it. I'd rather use the big filter and get the extra filtration. [Report message to a moderator]
