Suspension setup + TEMS.. making the rider harder?

Howdy All,
I am the owner of Lumpy's old MA70 Supra (waves ).
My previous 2 cars (1G-GTE Supra & R33 GTSt Skyline) both had coilovers in them, and well I am sort of addicted to the hard stance and handling they had
I am wanting to harden up the ride in the MA70 WITHOUT removing the TEMS system.. dont feel like spending over 1k on coilovers... at present it has lowered springs in it with TEMS shocks.
I will be doing the TEMS switch mod soon so it makes the damper on the hardest setting all the times, but my question then comes down to springs... I know this will sound n00bish but here goes...
Is the hardness of your ride effect by the shocks or springs normally ... or both?
I am "hoping" that I will just be able to put harder springs in the car to harden the ride (and improve handling)... is this possible.
I am thinking about either Whiteline or Koni springs.
