being that close to the wheel - you might want a more substantial shield (e.g. metal not plastic) between filter and wheel in case something sharp gets picked up by the wheel and spat at the filter and thru the usual wheel-arch plastic trim at high speed. the lines will absorb a bigger hit being flexible, tho not if it's sharp.
you probably know this anyway ..
actually ... why not put the filter down at the tank? way out of harms way?
