Wed, 25 August 2004 12:07 solidworks is great..autocad 3d i have heard is a lot harder to use. You convert the model to code using mastercam or similar. This spits out the tooling code that the CNC machine controller understands. You can then load it into the CNC interface. Depending on how much memory the machine and complexity of part will dictate how quick this process is. CNC and CNC machinist time ain't cheap - you will have to assess it is really worth it.
