If you're still trying, I use this method when without rattle guns:
1: You'll need, flywheel socket, breaker bar, long heavy screwdriver or similar, bellhousing bolt.
2: Install the bellhousing bolt on the LHS of the engine and stand/lie on that side too.
3: Place the breaker bar with socket on the flywheel bolt.
4: Place the screwdriver under the bellhousing bolt with the head resting on the socket.
5: gripping both firmly, start applying pressure to the breaker bar until the bolt starts to undo - done!
This method moves the point of rotation from the centre of the crankshaft to the centre of the flywheel bolt you are trying to undo, I've used it relentlessly on flywheel bolts of all types, including items installed with Loctite without a problem. You'll need arm and back strength to undo some bolts, but a big hairy bastard will often help you out for the offer of a beer if you can't do it yourself?!
