In addition to what kingmick suggests i would suggest replacing the timing belt, and the front and rear main oil seals, along with the cam shaft seals. Although the front seals arnt so necessary on an N-S engine, its still easier to do. Same with the rear main, loads easier to do out of the car, as i can testify.
A note for FWD, doing any of that stuff is a total bitch when in car, so i would definately suggest doing it out of car.
Also as cheap insurance i would advise doing head gasket (not sure on availability for 1G, although they came in the GA61 over here so probably pretty good), and definately water pump. Ive seen about 4 come out of halfcuts either fully or partially seized, and heard many more horror stories. Again cheap insurance. Although can blow out the budget a bit.
