After 45mins of retuning my ECU for recent mods and just finishing off some high boost runs, the hose leading to the Heater Tap VSV valve blew off. The tuner refitted it but failed to notice the missing 1-way check valve which had falled off, so under boost the fuel pressure regulator was being bled off by the VSV valve - they share a common chamber inside the intake manifold. The result was a leaning off of the A/F ratio by about 1-2 points above 4000rpm and resultant pinging. Hours of head scrathing and failed retuning and subsequent searching for a vacuum/boost loss resulted in locating the 1-way check valve sitting on the engine mount!! As soon as it was re-fitted, AFRs retuned back to normal and again the ignition/fuel maps were retuned...cables ties are your friend! [Report message to a moderator]
