Without taking the spring out there is not much point.
Easiest thing to use that I've heard is the pull knob in the top of the back seats to fold the seats forward (dunno which car though).
If you are switched on enough to need/want a 'spin-turn knob' (haha, I'm gonna call someone that!) then you should be switched on enough to make sure your handbrake is properly engaged & the gearbox is in gear on the occasions you park on steep hills.
The average dodgy motorist wouldn't have the vaguest idea what's happening when they pull the handbrake lever (or emergency brake as I've heard it called! ) & that's why they put a really tight spring in there, so if the levers up, the brakes engaged.
You'd have to think about it to get it wrong.
