HA! glad you asked about how i did the timing, coz it turned out to be a hell of a big job!
i warmed the car up, had the tachometer and timing light hooked up, blocked off the vacuum advance to the distobutor and checked the timing, it was about 5 degress retarted, so i adjusted it to stock 5 degrees BTDC. After that it seemed like the engine was slightly pinging. SO! i rechecked the timing, it was spot on! so i figured the timing belt might have slipped a tooth or more. Took a whole day removing the front timing cover off and to check that the cam gear and crank pulley were in the correct positions. Turns out they were! and after i put it all back together and started the car again, that pinging wan't there.
so set it for performance? how do i do that? more advance?
I'll devise a way to do what you said with the secondary throttle linkage, thanks for the tip!
And like i said before i need to get a new compression tester as my current one has cracked rubber where it goes into the spark plug hole. When i turn the engine by the crankpully it feels like it has alot of compression still, and also uses no oil. But that isn't a gaurantee that my compression is good, more a good sign if anything.
