Friends, Members of the global village, and comrades,

Most of you guys don't know me, nor would you know too much
about my car, but your help and answers to my previous
threads have been invaluable and hence I come to you all again
ignorance in hand, and a conversion on my mind.

At the moment I'm running the stock 4AG, with hurricane extractors running through a highflow cat etc etc, This I told my girlfriend would be sufficient in terms of engine mods, as I allways planned on this car running my sound gear, which is aimed directly at sound quality. However, as fate would have it, I blew the head gasket on the weekend, which means I can now proclaim my intention for an engine conversion without fear of retribution.

After pulling the appropriate strings I've got between $9 500 - $10 000 to spend on the conversion, I then spent the majority of yesterday driving around some relatively well known workshops, and some that aren't. I won't include the name of the workshops in light of the forum rules, but the following is what I was quoted:

Workshop 1 - Speacialises in SR20DET, and RB26 Conversions, I was in the area so I thought I'd pop in and ask them for a quote, the following is what they spewed forth:

AE111 Halfcut with 6 Speed transmission Converision
Price - $8000
Rebuild the Blacktop 20 valve with strengthened interenals and Turbo Charge it - $8000

Total Cost:$16 000 for a 20 valve turbo conversion.

Workshop 2 - Known as the place to go, in terms of Engine convos to Toyota's:

4AGZE Bottom End
S15 Ballbearing Turbo
5 Speed and LSD
Heavy Duty Clutch
Microteck LT8 Computer

Drive in Drive away Total Cost - $12 000 - 1 Month off the road

Workshop 3 - Small workshop but have a great reputation with engine swaps which include mainly Honda motors.

All of the above listed by Workshop 2

Total Cost: $10,500 - 2 Months off the road

Workshop 4 - A mate of mine, who owned a performance workshop, and is an absolute whiz with 20 valve Turbos

20 Valve Head
4AGZE Bottom End
T28
Aftermarket ECU

Total Cost: $10 000 2 months off the road

I have also been quoted $7k - $8k for a 3sgte Conversion from a forum member. In relation to the 3sgte conversion I mentioned in my previous thread, I was quoted an average of $15 000 from some "performance workshops" Shocked Laughing Twisted Evil

Again lads your opinion on the above prices would be great, as I'm planning on starting the conversion within the next week Razz

Cheers
Soapy
