Is the trans wired up to the car in any way? Is there currently ANY power (12V) going to the transmission at all? IF the trans is not connected electrically in any way, it will only shift 1,3,4. It will not select 2nd gear at all. Be careful driving it like this as you can damage the trans by over heating it. Also, make sure the throw of the commodore shifter and the throw of the lever on the toyota box are compatible. If not, re-drill the shifter or the box lever to suit.
