The 7M is far from bullet-proof, I can assure you of that! It's not at all uncommon for the bottom end to start letting go once it's got a few miles under its belt.

The 1JZ-GTE into MX83 conversion is very common. Do a search and you'll find more info than you can poke a stick at.
