Yes, when I converted my 18R-GU to EFI I added the teardrops in the ports with a round file. The alloy is pretty soft so it's not hard to do, but as Roger said be careful not to get any metal shavings in the engine if you're doing it with the engine assembled. Apart from that everything will bolt on - just make sure you get an 18R-GEU thermostat housing as the original one will foul the plenum.
