In my experience, the EFI conversion resulted in MORE power. The 18R-GEU has less power than the earlier twin-carb versions of the 18R-G, but this is because of the lower compression ratio and extra pollution gear attached to the 18R-GEU - NOT the fuel system.
Converting to EFI is the best thing I ever did - more power, much better drivability (especially at low rpm), and HEAPS better fuel economy! Never going back to carbs now.
