Few points: Are you using an aftermarket EFI or a stock toyota one? And is it TCCS or analog EFI? If the "E" parts are off an '85 celi, it's analog and the ecu doesn't even HAVE an o2 sensor. My '85 celi headers have a blank instead of a tap for a sensor. If it is later Corona, I belive it is TCCS (digital) EFI.
Also, as far as I know there were never any hot-wire MAF 22REs, only flapper-door AFMs. You can upgrade an analog EFI 22RE AFM by using a 5mGE one, I believe, but not sure about the TCCS efi version. IF you can, at the least you might have to transplant the elctronics first. I'd get the thing happening with a stock AFM that hasn't been messed with first. And find out for sure what you can use - some AFMS might have the same plug on them, but are electronically totally different and incompatible.
I would be very suprised if ANY EFI car would run without it's AFM/MAF whatever plugged in an connected. How would the engine know how much air is going in and how much fuel to add????!!!!!!
