I thought that the idea behind slots and drilling is for when you get brake fade. Correct me if im wrong as i always seem to be, but this is the temperature at which the glue binding brake pad material together turns into gas. this gas forms a layer between rotor surface and pad therefore lubricating. we all have had that feeling of 'oh s**t' when we first got our licenses.

These grooves give the gases an escape route so pad can once again create friction with disc. This is what qualifies a quality brake pad from a supercheap brake pad, the temperature at which the glue sublimates. This heat problem runs into the brake fluid also doesnt it? high temp/non boil/dot 5 whatever fluid?

Its what I thought anyway Confused
