off the top of my head, the internals from the 3sgte and 3sfe are all different. same 3s block, different heads (ge /fe ) and i think different internals too. there was a post similar to this on ToyotaNation once. the only reason i can think of that would require him to lower his compression is if he was planning a turbo conversion. i'll try to find some clarification, but try ringing a toyota spare parts place and see what they say...
