 Stop thinking about it and get an ST162 Celica (88mdl if you can find a nice one for 4k)
I can verify the performance, handling and ease of camping or carrying surfboards and bikes. It can easily be modernised and by simply doing the intake and full exhaust (manifold a must) you will get an great bang for buck with style, performance and most importantly for me...practicality.
first mod should suspension and brakes like any first car mod should be.
Another great feature of the Celica is the nice rack ratio of the steering. Something I REALLY miss when I (used  ) to rally my GT4's
As far as doing a 3SGTE conversion well that's a piece of piss. I sold mine ST162/3SGTE to my cousin who has since pumped it to a nice 186kw at the wheels and he has since done 2 more conversions. The last one took 4days with full EMS setup. I'm sure he would be quite willing to do it for you at a very Toymods price. That goes for anyone who wants it done.
