The downside is the availability of good engines are few and far between. I believe SSS Automotive still have them in stock and these sell for $1500 (but don't quote me on that). Spare parts are usually easily obtainable both second hand and new. I believe there are wiring diagrams available on the net or else I sell EFI packages that contain diagrams in addition to extracts from the EFI sections of 1G manual. As for details on boost and redline someone else may want to comment as it's been a while since I drove a 1GGTE. As another option though you might like to consider the 1JZGTE.
