Yep, each of the front blinkers on a TA22 is earthed through the blinker housing onto the panel.
The rear blinkers are earthed through the main earth wire which is white and black.
If nothing is working, weg on your dash rear light or front, then the blinker box itself could be stuffed (I would try changing this first), or it could be an earthing problem. But its unlikely to be a local earth fault if the rear blinkers or dash lights aren't working either.
Also, check the big plug under the steering column, its blue/black and white from memory. Its where all the main wiring is connected, A bad contact there will also cause this fault.
In fact, that plug has caught me out a couple of times now where I spent ages looking for faults when it was a bad contact in that plug all along.
