Yeah I agree if you want a fast and furious car go buy a basic domestic wrecked Celica and a 3TGTE. Trouble is EVERYONE is either doing that or buying in a grey imports. 20 years ago one or two very fast now very rare models came into the country to do a retro-fit into a high performance engine just to drive it fast in a regime of speed cameras, higway cops and short points penalities the fast and furious model is justa short trip to a bicycle. This GT was so fast that my only highway stop was a DD charge. Cops dont like us driving these pocket rockets at 200k and dont be fooled that GT2000 did 200K probably will still run 180 plus. But DISC/DRUM??? No ABS, no airbags, no nuttin honey just grunt..I nearly put a 3TGTE engine in it in 1984 glad I diodnt but it would have gone harder thatn the Toyota taxy we read about or most other GTE retros as it is light. 3TGTE plus a GT maybe 240 k?? With the extra 20 horsepower and turbo?? You know I did a 3TGTE into a T18 in 1983/1984 the engine came out of a TT142 I think 1st one ever done in Australia car did 200 plus and was dangerous..still around Vic rego is CBL237.

Article in TURBO AUSTRALIA JUNE 1984.

Nice of them to publish my rego number, I became the target of every would be hoon and trafiic cop in the west of the state and sold the hybrid in 1985 for $7000.

But at least you could talk about DRIVING FAST in those days where-as now we just pretend and admire our rockets right??.

Very Happy
