By the time you're 40 you'll be needing those funky little hearing aid things jammed in your ears. Get another job, pronto - 'cos ears, and the ability to hear, is pretty important. YAH HEAR ME, SON? My uncle flew in the war (WW2 - the big one) and he's deaf in his right ear and his co-pilot (who's now dead) was deaf in the left ear. They found it easier to shout to one another than use the intercom system, which was always failing. So, they mostly pushed the earpiece away from the ear that is facing each other. My grandfather (who's also dead) was just about stone deaf. As a kid I would mime talk to him. He'd grizzle up his face and used to turn up his hearing aid to the max, and then I'd shout.
