Thu, 23 September 2004 13:12 Chris I've done injectors half a dozen times on mine and other Soarers and it's pretty straight forward to do without removing the manifold. Just use a large dull flat blade screwdriver to lever the injector against the rail if the o-rings are locking them in. There are apparently differences in the position of the loom that runs through the middle of the intake plenum which affects injector removal - some are apparently easier than others as far as clearance is concerned. Simon's experience that you quote was on a later 1JZ-GTE engine which is apparently easier to do with more clearance. For me though, it's always been a case of removing the throttle body, throttle cable bracket assembly, ICSV valve and disconnecting all vac lines and electrical plugs to the cam angle sensors etc in between the plennum and cam cover. This makes all the injecors relatively accesible. Most important step in R&R sidefeed injectors in a swimmer rail, is accounting for ALL the o-rings and fishing out the lower o-ring which is usually flattened on the botton of the fuel rail and ensuring the new lower o-ring doesn't fsll off during insertion causing misfires from blocking/diverting the injector spray pattern.
