it's there for closed loop operation to both increase fuel economy, and ensure that at cruise it doesn't go too rich or lean,, which on long trips both could be bad..

if it works as is, and you are not having any mixture related issues, then your choice.. always a bit better to put it in tho Wink

you could always get a bung put on, and stick a brass plug in there in case you want to put it in later (brass so it doesn't rust and sieze in the hole)
