I remember there is a device or valve that will bypass some air across the throttle body in case the throttle is closed abruptly, this "thing" is designed specially for automatic transmission because in manual, the engine will continue to be "pulled" by the inertia of the car, so the engine usually won't stall, whereas the torque converter will disconnect the engine as soon as the throttle is off.. that device may be the thing to check, but I forgot the actual name of this device, hope someone else on the forum can remember..
