at a guess, the biggest wire is for charging battery and goes to the battery post.
one wire is definitely for the charge light (grounds when low voltage)
the last wire is most likely for a 'voltage sense" wire.. maybe goes to bat or ignition.. can out a small resistor in it to fool alt into charging with higher voltage .. not sure if this is recommended tho..
