saw the car yesterday.... dayum its going harder than before, i still can't get over those massive chirps from the rear treads, esp since it's stil the 2T Shocked

G'day mate, let me just say that doing it all over again is not something I'd like to do too soon (although with the job I did it'll need it), and if I do do it again I'll be outsourcing alot of it.
But, at the same time, I don't regret doing it, I learned heaps & ended up with a very unique car.

The main thing I learned was to do a job properly the first time. But this also really means (reasonably) big bucks. I started out by stripping the car fairly bare, apart from dash & suspension, and then simply attacking any rust or suspected rust, and once you start uncovering it it's usually spread quite far. My car wasn't really all that bad to begin with, but it had it's fair share. I cut it all out or grinded it back, & welded in bits of replacement sheet steel, grinded it back & bogged it up. Water gets through bog (& primer) so cover it up.
Then the panels I rubbed back with wet & dry, but not enough in some areas. Any paint defects at all should be rubbed back to bare metal. And then just make sure you use one of those cork blocks & plenty of water, & start rubbing.
Any bit's of bare metal you've finished working on should be painted with primer & temporarily top coated if there's any chance you're gonna leave it for any long periods of time.
A book on the subject is always handy, apart from that I can only other thing I can think of is that the preparation is 99% of a paintjob, & if you really want a top notch result when it's all finished, get as much done professionally as you can afford.
