personally i dont recomend taking the discs off...when i did mine the front went like this..
1: Chock back wheels, crack the nuts on the front
2: Jack up car and place on stands
3: Undo nuts and remove wheels
4: Crack the 2 nuts holdign the strut fron the bottom,then crack the 3 nuts at the top
5: Leaver down on the lower control arm assembly and pull strut out taking care not to stretch the brake lines, lay the struts down on something level and keeping the brake lines nice and loose. If the springs are tight against the hat use spring compressors, we didnt bother
6: get ur mate to hold the shock piston from turning with vice grips over some rubber or something (we used stubby holder base  ) loosen top nut
7: Remove top hat bit, remove spring, use stilsens to loosen the nut at the top of the strut insert
8:remove shock, insert new one, put on NEW top securing nut, tighten with stillsens
9: Put back rubber bit springs sit on , compress spring with compressors, put on top hat, alighn notches, hold piston with vice grips/rubber (dont grip directly onto shaft as u will fcuk it)tighten top nut,remove compressors, insert back in car, lever down on the control arm, put in lower and upper bolts blah blah repeat on opposite side.
11: if u manage to do the fronts u will work out how to do rears otherwise consider urself hopeless and leave all car work to an ape with a spanner
(i think this is right, if i missed something im sure i will be properly critisized for it
