Places like NRMA no longer quote there premiums by who is the registered owner of the car. The premium will be based on who the youngest driver is. So it will make Jack all difference if you register it in your old mans name.
Insurance companies are all F*%Ckwits anyway. I've been stung before when I was completely in the right.
In my opinion your better off just geting third party property and spending the rest of your money on some driving courses to improve your skills.
If you don't take silly risks and you have been taught well you should never find yourself at fault in an accident. Its all about the attitude you have while driving.
I've also heard that places like shannons and youngandcool don't pay out the majority of accidents. They'll find something wrong with your car and say that it wasn't road worthy.
