Have a look in your engine bay, and find the diagnostic port. Once you have, short out the T and the E1 connections. Now go and turn you car to 'ON' but don't start the car. If there are no codes, it will flash steadily. If there are codes, take down the pulses, and there values. EDIT: the Check Engine light will flash....
