You shouldn't have any problems with the standard steering box and the 1G. Yes the turbo's do come close but it is easily workable.
If you want to convert to a rack then you will need a T series crossmember otherwise yout rack will be sitting inside your sump.
I am considering a rack conversion for mine. Both for driveability and the better sump arrangement.
Don't underestimate the amount of work involved in getting a rack conversion to work well though. Getting the engine in will be the easy bit.
