well you have the exact same symptoms as my friends SX celica162. I sourced him a new AFM and o2 sensor and his fuel economy and power came back to how it should be, the hunting idle was still there, but that's not a big problem and i'll sort that out soon i hope (will work on his celica next saturday). So it's possible your AFM/o2 is bad even tho your ECU did not give you a code.
But it would not hurt to get some genaral maintenance done, spark plugs, air filter if it needs a new one, and especially get the igntion timing checked, make sure whoever does your timing knows how to do it on a EFI toyota. That involves shorting the diagnostic block so you can set the base timing properly, alot of mechanics don't know this simple fact and wonder why the timing goes all over the place. (i'll find out what pins to short if you need)
Yeah your 02 sensor would be a one wire type i beleive. 4 wire o2 sensors are heated type.
You could try disconnecting the o2 sensor plug and seeing if there is a noticable difference (smells more rich? grey smoke out the exuast, even worse fuel econemy:P etc). Even try disconnecting the AFM plug too see if it makes a difference, althou your car will probably stall without the AFM connected. If it makes a noticable difference, then the part you disconnected is probably working ok.
