Hey,
Did the move to Sydney from Adelaide a few weeks back. Moved pretty much the same as you by the sounds. Contacted a few transport companies and they charge by space and weight.
My queen size bed, tv, cabinet, boxes etc came in at just under $1000.
In the end, I got it moved cheaper through work, altho that doesn't really help you.
Not sure if you can hire a trailer in Adelaide and drop it in Sydney? Check prices on hiring a small truck, altho its a LONG drive (and I did it in the Supes, not a moving truck!), believe me.
