i'll let improvedae86 comment on that cage

Laughing I figured a easy explanation out for that Simon , after are chat "The cage which braces the cage" tm .

As for those top secret trd cage pics keep them to yourself, you too Garth Mad .

But i will give a bit of common knowledge to people building cages for track . There is loads of info on building cages for anykind of racing out there , but most importantly check the spec for the class of racing you are going to do . I know a very nice bm with one of the best cage i have everseen , a e30 m3 with a touring car copy cage , improved in lots of areas buy a V8 supercar engineer . But guess what it is too reinforced to get the car into the intended class which it was going to be used . So do check all the relevant cams information before going about doing it all wrong .

As for normal track day stuff , the problem i most see is people getting coned by cage builders into $3500>$6000 cages
For basic track work it is easy to go over bored with hugely braced heavy cages in a relatively slow underpowered car . Far better judging the speed of the vehicle and its intended use and looking at other cars in that range and seeing what is only needed .

As for ae86 cage design there is so much information on where the ae86 flexes , what the cages look like in all the race n2 cars etc . Is the Ae86 such a weak chassis ? does it really need lots of heavy bracing , or big tubing ? All this is adding to the weight , and making the center of gravity much higher if adding large roof cross bracing . What is the use of just heavily reinforcing the areas where the cage mounts , this is old school style cage design . Now people make the cage into the body as much as possible , to get the most benefit in strength and weight .
