Hey mate, congrats on the purchase I just bought a GT4 Group A about 3 weeks ago also. Awesome cars, although mine has 210,000kms on it! The gear problem sounds like the typical syncho wear that the ST185's suffer from, you could try changing the gear box fluid, and adding some Nulon gear box treatment to it. If that doesnt help then it's probably worth trying to source out a Group A box, as they have triple synchro's which mostly eliminates the problem. I'm trying to hold some money aside for when the inevitable happens (i.e. needs a rebuild!), but these engines are pretty tough if treated well. Personally I wouldnt go for a rebuild until it needs doing, but if you are planning on running higher boost, it may be worth while upgrading the stock head gasket to a better one, as they are a weakness in the 3sgte. Not sure about the front mount, I'm sure someone here can help you. If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much did you pick yours up for? I paid $11500 for mine, needed a few things fixed up to be roadworthy, but I've probably only spent $500 on it so far anyway! Good luck with it, I'm sure we'll see you round the forums lots!
