Personally, I'd be suggesting a custom fabricated water/air cooler, if you can afford it. That way you can keep the 'essential' part of it up under the bonnet, out of harms way, but still get more effective cooling than you will with a top mount style cooler. A fan on the heat exchanger at the front of the car will allow effective cooling while off roading, and I think water injection is a great idea for any supercharged engine as well. You may be able to mix'n'match factory water intercooler parts from Subaru, 3SGTE, 1GGTE, etc. to good effect while still keeping the cost sensible. Have a think about how much you can manage to spend, and then go check out whats available at wreckers, etc.
