Perfect little engine for the ra28 as they are fairly similar in weight to the 18r and are probably one of the easiest fits.They are also cheap to run. However, Unless you personally do pretty much all the work yourself i think you still be looking at around 2k-4k to have the engine installed not including the price of the engine. I was once told by dave at SLEEKA SPARES in SA that to have all the work done including gearbox, engine and engineering report you could be looking at around 7-8k for the full conversion. I would highly recomend drive train and DEFINATELY a brake and suspension upgrade before attempting any such conversion yourself. The 1g would kill the diff in notime and without a half decent brake and suspension up grade the car would be extreamely difficult to control. IMO wacking a 1g gte in a standard ra28 and driving it equates to suicide. Try getting in touch with some people who have done this conversion. Brendon (aka SNYPER) from the Classic Celica Club of SA would be someone i would recommend talking to. He had a 1g gte setup in his ta23 and was pumping out around 144rwkw with a slight boost adjustment.
