The other posters who identified them as thrust washers/bearings are correct. If the car you have is an auto it may not be as bad as it could be because there wont be as much longditudinal pressure on the crank. However if it's a manual, when the clutch is engaged, it will be pushing a big end journal into the face of one of the main bearing webs and cap. I had a Twincam Escort with this problem. The crank milled into the main bearing and the web so badly that I had to get both the crank and the block metal sprayed and machined to correct it. If you have caught it early the damage may not be too great but it's REALLY serious. Good luck man. [Report message to a moderator]
