thanks for yor help fellas, you were right to say when one cylinder goes it makes that noice (when my carby sucked the airfilter in one intake), but i get the problem every time i start the car, and after a while of reving the engine it goes away. i have cheaked the oil its still a bit yellow, the engine has only done around 97,000km and today i went out and bought carby cleaner the one where you mix it with petrol. i also cheaked the spark plugs again making sure they're not getting to hot and re-tuned the carby. lastly i turned the distributer anti-clockwise just a bit and had it ideling at 900-1000rpm. my main concern is why does it start and then go away? should i do the following: - compression test - get carbies properly tuned - do a full service - what else would any of you fellas suggest. once again thanks for your suggestions.
