Get some other quotes and spend the money. It won't necessarily require the HeliCoil.
It would very likely cost 1/4 of that if you hadn't tried to remove it in the first place.
The price of experience - unfortunately.

P.S If you can bring it to my place I can attempt it - cost less than 1/2 what you've been quoted.
