What they don't tell you is that the engine was recieving a constant fresh supply of oil.

Derr, its an oil, not firewater.
After much deliberation with my mechanic who isn't overly impressed with most synthetics, he did say that Mobil 1 has proven itself time and again, and he also mentioned something about it having a small mineral component that gives it anti-corrosion properties.
