you should seriously do this, i am a frim beliver that the G series is a very tough diff and you would sturggle to break it, the IRS would also be handy, i say if you wanna do it then go hard 
I dont know muhc about the technical side of doing a conversion such as this but I would imagine you would have to put supra or soarer struts in the rear and shorten the axels which wouldnt be overly difficult.
Your best bet would be to buy an entire rear crossmember from a wrecker, struts, diff, brakes, axels and all and see how it goes
