since the K's are bad for oil heat, it is a very good idea.
as MrShin says, a full flow cooler is the way to go, otherwise you are only cooling oil when there is excess pressure/flow from the pump.
you will likely have a little pressure drop due to the cooler core, but may not be that much..
i would strongly recommend that you look at a higher volume oil pump (ie T series ) that will provide the extra volume at same pressure.. shimming the pressure relief valve is not going to help when you run out of flow, but will help if you have the capacity for extra volume.
also look at the oil thermostats (mocal and permacool do them) that bypass the cooler core until a set temp is reached.. this works just like water thermostat, and i like em.. haven't used one yet, but i still like the idea
