Points 1 and 3 are very valid reasons. But supercharging will rarely improve fuel efficiency if at all. If you supercharge a NA engine, you will usually have to drop compression a little if you want to run any sort of decent boost which will result in poorer economy when off boost (ie. when cruising which is a lot of the time in normal street driving) - even if you run an air bypass. Also, superchargers take power away from the engine to make the boost and this power consumption goes up proportional to the square of engine speed, so its going to suck a lot of power at high revs, even though the boost will give you more power overall... however, more fuel used once again. Correctly setup turbo's are more efficient, but even turbo setups can't guarantee better economy. You might make a gain with supercharging if a car had a massively undersized engine to begin with.
Sorry I can't add anything more positive, other than agreeing that it certainly would be unique and supercharging will probably give you more grunt off the line which is good for a street car.
