personally i'd leave it - think about it - while it sits any oil in the top end will drain/leak down and all end up in the sump anyways.
what i would do prior to starting it up first time is take the rocker cover off, and pour oil over the cams - give em a good soak in the stuff.
i'm open to suggestion on the next bit, but, to maybe help things along a bit, maybe take the plugs out and put a little oil in the plug hole - so that the oil can travel down the side of the bore - face it - if the engine has been sat for a long time, the walls of the bores may have rust ect on them (which will soon disappear on first startup) but just an idea to help first start....
yes it will be smoky first go, but, as suggested, either turn it over by hand before first start or turn it over with the starter motor, just disconnect your coil first...
