then again, a 7AFE in a 950kg or so KE70 would still go pretty darn well...

We stuck a crapfire 2.0l from a corona in one (bog stock), very tidy shell, slighty lowered it, RA40 brakes, Kmac kits. Made a fun thrash around compared to the 'K' series it had. When I sold it.. Easy as too... the guy had only test driven ones with the 'K' engines and couldn't belive how much fun it was! Still regret selling it and not putting a 22RE 2.4L I had sitting around at the time.... would of been a burn out King with that torque Laughing

what would i expect to pay for one of these engines? when did they cease production? this is another point on which these engines compare favourably.. i figure that you could pick up a newer engine for the same price (or cheaper )

expect to pay anyway between $800-1500 depending on condition

A few treads on here have raised questions about the strength of the 7AFE bottom end.

It's not the crank, it's the rods! A few 10 thousand km's in rally's and that's all I have ever broken yet! Rectified that and still going strong after a more few 10 thousand. That's a myth about the crank , the rods are the crap design.

does anybody know of the bolt in compatibility of this engine..?

Between the 4A and 7A blocks, some of the bolt holes are different, but the one's where the RWD engine mounts bolt up, I couldn't tell you. Dizzy is on the back of the head, along with the thermostat housing and heater hoses, so a bit of mucking around is need here to clear the firewall. Dizzy you have two choices, you could run a 20V crank angle, (dizzy without cap)which does fit with a small amount of filing, and wasted spark setup ie muit-coils like GZE...or cut the firewall to suit. The thermo housing etc... well, that's anyone's guess.
