Thanks for the help and suggestion thus far, but just then after work I had a look (first time in a while that it's not raining) and there is sooty build-up above the exhaust manifold. When the engine was apart I was the designated cleaner so I made sure the head was spotless. Now, obviously there is a leak, but from the amount of soot build-up I don't think its that big a leak.
Can I just tighten the nuts/bolts on the manifold (provided I can reach them)? Or do I need to take the whole thing off to replace it with a new gasket? Or can I just put a dallop of those brownish gasket goo things and tighten it? Your help has been good so far yellorolla, thanks  .
Suggestions or pointers anyone?
