If you weld your diff, the diff gears will last longer, but only because they can no longer turn.
Your axles on the other hand will be likely to cry mercy with a welded diff . They're only little axles in the T diff, and twist like crazy on tight turns. Plus if you've driven a T18 with a locked diff, you'll realise that they are a complete PIG with massive feedback through the steering & chassis. Other cars with a locker have never felt as bad as my T18 was with various locked centres, and my car had all new urethane bushes etc.
