The White Lightning ST162 was a cosmetic thing with no mechanical mods at all. Basically some stickers and all white paint job (and wheels) with a few options thrown in as well such as the GT4 sports seats & sunroof. I understand that only the auto White Lightning's came with cruise control.
The White Lightning was sold in '89, when the ST162 was about to be replaced by the ST182 (5th gen), so it was one of those end-of-model special editions to keep interest alive before the new model hit. I believe there were 200 made, not entirely sure. Toyota did the end-of-model-special-edition thing again with the 5th gen (ST184) in 1993 with the WRC Trophy Celica, with the 1994 ST204 just around the corner.
