quite a while ago round jan \ feb i had a worked 3K in a KE20. The motor was on egde, couldn't tell u the specs coz i didn't build it but from a guess and what my bro told me when he pulled the motor down for inspection, it was running 10.2 CR (Lonsdale Cylinder Heads had a final go) with balance bottom end and 4K head. Head was worked: ported, polished, and hardened valves, stem and seats. The head was shaved to minimum. The combustion chambers were filled in as much as possible. The little bastard never valve bounced either.
From a guess the Cam was somewhere around stage 2 if not more towards race specs.
It ran a 32mm down draught weber and extractors with a 1.75" straight through exhaust.
Both the manifold, the extractors and the head were port matched.
The archillies of the motor was the fact that is ran standard pistons and rings.

The lil car ran a 4 spd. 1st = 50km\h 2nd = 95km\h 3rd = 130 km\h and i pulled 170 in 4th and the car still was making power.
Oh yeah from a guess it was making power past 9000RPM.

It was a credit to its builder. Unfortunately the motor made power far past the point of no return.
This was the best NA motor I ever had.

I would recommend building a motor that has atleast forged pistons and decent rings with the simular of above.


As for boosting the K motor a guy from Advance wreckers (commodore wreckers) used a 5K BE (bottom end) with a 4K head, some how it becomes decompressed somewhere near 7.5:1. I used sold lifters and a custom cam. He said the thing ran 25 PSI without a hitch.

If you want a cheap decom K motor then use a 4K head on a 3K BE, that should lower it enough to run wild boost.
